How can anyone avoid the energy and excitement of the Warriors’ success?  I enjoy watching the different characters on the team and learning about with their individual stories. 

Watching the team work together brings me back to the quote “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”  It’s a good reminder of how we all depend on each other to achieve success.  Everyday, I lean on a whole tribe of mentors, peers, and even best friends to survive and thrive.

The Changing Landscape Of Uptown: 2150 Webster

Three blocks from the soon to be Uber building – sits the substantial 2150 Webster building which currently houses a nearly empty AT&T call center. By September 2016, AT&T will have cleared out this 228,033 sqft space once call center.

Commercial developers, Lane Partners & Walton Street Capital, are currently in contract on 2150 Webster.  There are speculations that 2150 Webster will become a tech destination. This would be the 2nd largest building acquisition in Oakland since 2008 – the first being the Sears (Uber) building.

West Oakland – Full Steam Ahead
A few newsletters ago, I mentioned that West Oakland will have new inventory. The developer City Ventures broke ground with their “Station House” project in October 2015.  Fast forward to June 2016 – they are a few weeks into selling these units. This 171 unit development is comprised of 2 bedroom/3 bedroom green homes that run completely on solar panels and will have 4,500 square feet of commercial retail.The “Station House” sits adjacent to the historic 16th Street Station completed in 1912. The 16th Street Station back in its time had served as a major point of entry for those migrating into California.

Each home is three levels high with individual garages. The smallest home is a two bedroom (specifics: 2bed/2.5ba, 1240sqft) priced at $590,000. Also, the nice thing about this new inventory it is not a competitive multiple bid situation. You can simply sign up for a unit by going off the price listed. There has been two sales releases thus far. The sales office and models should be ready to go by end of June. I hope to check the model homes out in the coming weeks.

Anyone wanting to take a hard hat door can contact the sales office – as they have tours every top of the hour from Friday thru Sunday. I have to admit it’s pretty exciting seeing new inventory.








Personal Notes
On a personal note, in early 2016 I had made a physical goal of running a 1:45 half marathon.  I realized that my 21 mile Big Sur training back in April had led me to chill out and slow down with my long distance runs.As I was putting together my spreadsheet for training for the November Berkeley Half – I wondered to myself – how am I to run a 8 minute half marathon distance? Where is this desire coming from and is this a goal that I still want to achieve?  I would rather sustain a healthy love for running rather than being repulsed by the thought of it. I am still undecided. I have until the beginning of August to begin a 4 month half marathon training.

Training for a marathon or half marathon has correlations to working in real estate.   I have to reflect and get conscious about where my goals are. I have to make sure I am not burned out.  I do feel that I am continually growing and want to take necessary moments of rest if I want it to be a long career.

On a more positive note, Phil and I booked a two week flight to Japan. We are ready for adventure and renewal in a very slow real estate season.
